Triple Milled Or French Milled Soaps

Triple Milled Soap

Triple milled soaps, extremely popular and in high demand today for their high quality, have been produced for centuries. The triple milling process was developed by French soap makers in the 1700s and thus receives its alternate name, French milled soap.

What Is Triple Milled Soap?
Triple-milled soap is a high-quality type of soap that is commercially made by a repeated machine-rolling process.

What Is The Process?
Triple milled soaps, or French milled soaps, are made of a typical combination of a fatty acid (oil or fat) in reaction with lye (sodium hydrochloride). After the soap mixture is made, it is then dried into crystals and rolled at least three times between large stainless steel rollers until a paste is formed. The paste is then pressed into soap molds, and the triple milled soap is created.

What are The Benefits?
The triple milling process allows for soap that is completely uniform and smooth, without impurities, and is longer lasting than other types of soap.

What is Quad Milled Soap?
Quad milling (See Pre de Provence Soaps) is a special production process that adds one more rolling to create a soap that is super luxurious on the skin.

Why Burn Soy Candles?

Those of you who have burned soy already have seen the benefits of soy candles, both to your health and the environment first hand.

Clean Burning

One of the best benefits of soy candles is how clean they burn. Soy wax does not produce the black soot like paraffin does. While some might say "no soot", it's actually "little soot". Everything that burns releases smoke, and soy candles are no exception. However, the amount of smoke released from soy wax is so minimal, you might hardly notice it.

General (COMMON SENSE) Candle Burning Rules:

Never leave your burning candle unattended.

Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.

Always burn candles on a heat resistant and non-flammable surface.

Be sure to remove all labeling and decorations before lighting your candle.

Trim wicks to ¼" before burning and keep wicks trimmed to ¼" at all times.

Avoid breakage - Do not burn your candles when less than ½" of wax remains in the container or all remaining wax has become liquid.

Keep candles away from drafts, vents and flammable objects.

Keep matches and other debris out of the candles. This will keep the flame contained on the wick, and ensure the beauty of your candle.

Extinguish the flame if it burns too close to the container or holder. Sometimes wicks do shift. If this happens, extinguish the flame, and while the wax is liquid, move the wick back to the center of the candle. Do not use your finger!

Do not move a jar candle when the wax is liquid. Although the wax will not burn you, it can still be messy to clean up and may stain fabric and/or carpeting.

When burning two or more pillar candles, be sure to set them at least 12 inches apart - otherwise the outside of the pillars may melt due to the combined heat.

REMEMBER: Candles are never to be burned out of sight - never light them unless you are observing the candle burning at all times. Countless homes and lives have been lost because of a burning candle being left unattended!

When burning your container candle for the first time, allow your candle to burn until liquid wax covers the entire surface of the candle. This will help your candle to burn more evenly and prevent waste along the sides of the container. Ideal burn time for container candles is 1 hour for each inch in diameter.

Never burn your candle for extended periods of time. Recommended time is 3-4 hours. Burning your candle longer can result in uneven melting and over release of fragrance. Over release of fragrance will reduce the scent your candle will have when burned again.

Never burn your candle if the container becomes cracked or chipped. The heat can cause the damaged glass to shatter.

All candles (especially scented ones) will produce a small amount of smoke. This happens mostly when relighting. Keeping the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch will help reduce smoking.

If black discoloration builds up on the inside of your candle container, clean with a damp paper towel or wet wipe after cooled. Allow container to dry thoroughly before relighting.

Allow your candle to cool completely before replacing the lid on the container.

Use caution when blowing out your candle. Blowing with force could cause the melted wax to splatter. For safest results, extinguish your candle using a candlesnuffer. Simply use the snuffer to dip the wick into the melted wax and then retrieve it. Wick will extinguish with little or no smoke and will be primed and ready for next lighting.
